The Process
Interior design is a fluid, non-linear, process. For purposes of illustration, here is a general overview of the various steps involved. We like to use the phrase “Turn Key” for the services we provide. What we mean by “Turn Key” is that we can service you fully. From design to placing orders, through construction, deliveries and installation right down to even the smallest of details which include linens, tabletop, accessories and artwork.
Initial Consultation
Our first step is to meet with you, ask questions and listen, to find out about your design and space needs. We will also take the time to introduce ourselves and let you know how our expertise could best serve you. Communication, trust and mutual respect are key ingredients in any successful project.
Agreement
The basic parameters of your project, your budget, the general timing and our design fee are agreed upon.
Site Investigation
This step involves a more detailed discussion of the area being designed. We will assess your current interior and discuss what changes and additions are being considered. At this point, initial measurements are made and colors and materials are discussed. Informal interviews with you and your family are also completed to enable us to create environments that best suit your lifestyle.
Preliminary Presentation
Based on a combination of what we've learned from you, plus our own expertise, we will present our design concept through the use of photos, floor plans, fabric, paint and flooring samples and other materials we recommend.
Final Presentation
Our initial ideas have now been refined into a master plan. This will include a budget proposal (where appropriate) and enough specifics to be able to generate bids, if needed, from contractors.
Implementation
Once the design is approved, furnishings and materials are ordered and all painting, construction and other work are scheduled. We oversee the entire process to insure that the work is of the highest quality.
Dealer
We are a Wood-mode dealer through our Michigan store, At Home with Nature, and offer our expertise in bathroom and kitchen cabinetry with our extensive Wood-mode training. Since we are a certified dealer, our pricing is competitive.
Green DESIGN
We have completed several green projects which adhere to the city of Chicago's Building Green Standards. Several of our team members are working on acquiring their LEED certification. Please contact us should you wish to pursue a traditional green project.
